Forging Ahead

Excellence in Research

WU wants to be a leading player in European research and strengthen its reputation worldwide. The constantly increasing number of publications in renowned journals is one indication that we’re succeeding.

Our explicit goal is to produce excellent research that fulfills the highest quality standards. We are pleased and proud that WU’s research output has been increasing continuously for years. In 2021, WU researchers published around 500 Scopus-listed papers – more than ever before.

The upward trend is even more noticeable if we look only at WU’s top publications. These are articles that have appeared in particularly highly ranked journals (evaluated using the Scimago Journal & Country Rank, SJR).

Even looking at only those WU departments (Private Law, Public Law and Tax Law, and Foreign Language Business Communication) which, due to their academic orientation, primarily publish outside the major publication databases such as Scopus or Web of Science, there has been a significant increase in recent years.
