„Your job is our business“
At the heart of the activities of Austria’s largest university career center is the job exchange, which focuses specifically on the skills profile of WU’s students and graduates. In 2019, we published 2,781 jobs – internships, part-time student jobs, entry-level positions, or jobs for the first career step. All sectors are represented, nationally and internationally, from start-ups to corporate groups.
In March 2019, the career and job platform was given a comprehensive overhaul. The key feature of the platform is now a portal for students where they can find jobs, employer profiles, and recruiting events. Detailed filters and a personalized job alert now notify users about suitable jobs in real time. 5,000 students already registered on the platform within the first 10 months, and continue to use it regularly.
Always up to date
The Career Center’s new “online classroom” provides students and graduates with optimal support in their job search: sample résumés for students and graduates, custom-tailored to different degree programs, are available for download, and comprehensive information on application letters and job interviews can be accessed at any time.
Any remaining open questions can be discussed face-to-face: “Walk-In” office hours are available for spontaneous questions, and counselling sessions with a career counsellor can be scheduled to discuss individual concerns in more detail. In 2019, the Career Center’s experts held 1,736 career counselling sessions.

Career calling
In 2019, 110 employers came to WU for the Career Center’s career events “Career Insights,” “Meet Your Job,” and the internship-focused “Praktikumstag.” All relevant sectors and professional fields were represented.
The WU ZBP Career Center was also active off-campus. At the 4th annual “Long Night of Companies” in March 2019, participants were encouraged to “Grab the shuttle to your first job!” At this career event, organized by WU’s Career Center in cooperation with the University of Vienna, 1,100 visitors were brought together with 42 employers, first at City Hall and then by shuttle bus to the companies’ offices or production facilities.
On October 21, 5,136 registered visitors came to the Messe Wien expo hall for the Career Calling fair, Austria’s largest career fair, featuring 140 employers. The 2019 fair was structured more like a conference, and offered a comprehensive supporting program including employer pitches, speed networking, workshops, and a panel discussion on the topic of “Working 2025.”
