Sponsoring
Room and auditorium sponsoring
Corporate partners can sponsor libraries, auditoriums, lounges, and project rooms on Campus WU. A number of well-known Austrian companies have taken advantage of this opportunity to establish their presence on campus.
Our cooperation with reputable companies benefits our students as well – some of our corporate partners use the rooms they sponsor for interesting events that allow students to gain insights into the company and experience business first-hand.
Events
We offer our corporate partners the exclusive chance to present their brands and products at on-campus events.
Campus Days and Open House Days
Campus Days are held before the start of each new semester and give new students a chance to learn their way around campus and get to know their fellow students. On Open House Days, we invite potential students to come to WU to learn about the university and its programs. Both events are a good opportunity for companies to present their brands and products. In 2017, sponsors included Red Bull, Rauch, and De Beukelaer .
Summer Celebration
WU invited students, faculty, staff, and local residents to attend the Summer Celebration in June. 6,000 visitors attended, enjoyed the varied entertainment program, and celebrated with us into the small hours. The success of the Summer Celebration was in no small part thanks to the efforts of our sponsors. Main sponsor Red Bull provided the stage for the live musical acts and brought well-known BMX athletes to campus to perform.
Partners like Hofer, KPMG, and Kika/Leiner presented their brands in student lounges and offered guests attractive additional services and promotional extras, like sun lounges for relaxing on campus, free sunglasses, a soccer goal target wall, or a photo booth.
Hofer and NÖM offered free samples of their products (yoghurts and yoghurt drinks). Rauch and Hofer also provided free drinks for WU staff. A number of well-known companies supported the WU charity raffle, and the Westbahn train service donated the grand prize.
WU Top League
After a selective admissions procedure, qualified students receive coaching and support from experienced student mentors and have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into business life at workshops, company presentations, and field trips offered by the program’s corporate partners. The WU Top League was sponsored by BDO, ÖBB, and Uniqa in 2017.
Study acceleration programs
WU’s study acceleration programs give students the opportunity to take advantage of university breaks to take especially popular courses that are usually booked up during the semester. An average of 25-30 courses are offered, focusing mainly on business administration, law, and economics.
In 2017, Allianz Elementar Versicherungs-AG was the exclusive sponsor of the study acceleration programs. A highlight of this collaboration was the Allianz Work Study workshop on employer branding.
Fundraising
Being a responsible university means supporting society in its development towards a community that is responsible and sustainable in its actions. Our corporate partners help us reach this goal.
Endowed chairs allow us to focus on topics that will impact our future, for example “Health Care Economics” or the “Socioeconomics of Work.”
Our Inclusion Package is intended to provide disabled students with comprehensive support, allowing them to pursue an academic degree or a career in science.
The Family Package offers flexible child care to our faculty, staff, and students, making it easier to balance family life with work or studying.
WU4You
In Austria, the level of education an individual will attain still depends to a large extent on his or her social background. Upward mobility in education is rare. This is also true for WU: Students from families with low educational levels are underrepresented at our university. This is why we established the WU4You program. With this program, we want to help talented high-potential students from low-income families study at WU. The second round of WU4You scholarships was awarded in 2017, after completion of the successful pilot phase in the previous year. A total of 18 schools throughout eastern Austria were invited to participate, and 50 potential students applied. Thanks to the generous support of our partners, we were able to award 15 scholarships. Our corporate sponsors got to meet the scholarship recipients at the kick-off event in October, and were very impressed by the new students’ vision and commitment.
