WU Visiting Fellow

Post-doc assistant professors are eligible for the WU Visiting Fellow program. With this program, researchers spend three months conducting research at a partner university. Ideally, the funding results in a paper published in a top journal. A further benefit is that Fellows are often able to attract colleagues from the host university to come to WU as guest lecturers.

The following researchers were WU Visiting Fellows in 2016:

Gerhard Wohlgenannt
Department
Information Systems and Operations
Host university
Higher School of Economics, Moscow
Johanna Woydack

Post-Doc Research Contracts

Post-doc research contracts support outstanding post-doc researchers at WU in their research efforts. The aim of this type of sabbatical is to allow researchers more time for their research work and for building their own network within the international scientific community. Research contracts are usually used to fund a stay at an international university with a relevant research focus.

The following research contracts were granted in 2016:

Guest Researchers

Fulbright Chairs at WU

The Fulbright Program, named after US Senator James W. Fulbright (1905–1995), is one of the most well-known and renowned mobility programs for US scholars. The program’s objective is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Applicants are subject to a stringent selection process conducted by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars on behalf of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State.

WU has two Fulbright Chairs, the Fulbright-WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) Visiting Professor (previously called the Fulbright-Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration Distinguished Chair), assigned to a different WU department every year, and the Fulbright-Kathryn and Craig Hall Distinguished Chair for Entrepreneurship in Central Europe, assigned permanently to the Department of Strategy and Innovation.

In the 2015/16 winter semester, Kenneth Scott Swan from the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary (Williamsburg, Virginia) occupied the Fulbright-Kathryn and Craig Hall Distinguished Chair for Entrepreneurship in Central Europe at WU. He taught the course International Entrepreneurship and Export Management.

Douglas Creed (University of Rhode Island) came to WU in the 2016 summer semester as a Fulbright-WU Visiting Professor, teaching Organizational Behavior and other courses.
